Running Accomplishments:

6 marathons- Chicago 2001 (3:57...my goal was 5:00!), Chicago 2002, Venice Italy 2003, Okinawa Japan 2007, Okinawa 2008, Gold Coast Australia 2008

Plenty of half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, etc. Some PRs, some age group awards.

My most significant & defining running accomplishment was being named "Most Dedicated Runner" every season that I competed on my high school cross country team. A decade later, I still try to live up to that award!

Get closer to my marathon PR and eventually bust it!

Be more competitive (in time and in spirit) in shorter races.

Run a marathon before June 2009.

Run another marathon before Jan 2010.

Run at least 4 days a week.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Boston Qualifier...even if it takes me til I'm 80!

"Run" a triathlon.

Ran to the gym, then out on the seawall with my running group... four people today! Our group used to be much bigger, but most of the members have PCSed in the past couple of years. My turn to PCS next...next week will probably be our last run together :(

It was chilly and I wouldn't leave the house without my fleece jacket. I was warmed up by the time I got to the gym, so I left it in Veronica's car. We started without Mike at 6:40, but he saw us running by the first stoplight, turned, parked and quickly joined us!

My knees hurt a little, maybe because of the cold. Last night my left calf felt really tight, so I'm going to be a good girl and stretch well today. Veronica gave me a ride home and when I sat down in her car, it hurt! It felt like I had bruises all over my bottom & the backs of my legs. Strange.

GREAT MILES!!!! You haven't seen cold yet... last night at 5 pm it was -31 with windchill. :(

Howling Commando(Benn? right?)--not numb, just funny feeling. Almost like it would have felt if I were running on uneven ground and overcompensating. But I wasn't running on uneven ground...who knows?

Jodi...my mom pointed out that our weather is SEVENTY degrees WARMER than yours! I'm in for a very rude awakening!

Yup. Benn it is! Hmm, that's weird pain. How does it feel now? Has it dissipated some? Is tomorrow an easy day for you I hope? Where do you live anyways?

One of our family friends stopped by tonight and he lives up in the mountains. It was -29 this morning when he left for work!

From Becca on Sat, Jan 17, 2009 at 05:59:33

Benn- I live in sunny Okinawa Japan... winter is over and we're expecting to reach 72 degrees by Wednesday!

Tomorrow I will either rest or run just an easy few miles.

You can feel cool either even when other people are colder.

Great run. Enjoy your remaining time in Okinawa. I hope your calf and knees cooperate.
