6 marathons- Chicago 2001 (3:57...my goal was 5:00!), Chicago 2002, Venice Italy 2003, Okinawa Japan 2007, Okinawa 2008, Gold Coast Australia 2008

Plenty of half marathons, 10ks, 5ks, etc. Some PRs, some age group awards.

My most significant & defining running accomplishment was being named "Most Dedicated Runner" every season that I competed on my high school cross country team. A decade later, I still try to live up to that award!

Get closer to my marathon PR and eventually bust it!

Be more competitive (in time and in spirit) in shorter races.

Run a marathon before June 2009.

Run another marathon before Jan 2010.

Run at least 4 days a week.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Boston Qualifier...even if it takes me til I'm 80!

"Run" a triathlon.

Okay... I'm back! Or at least I'll try to be.

I have been running really sporadically, but I decided that I am going to be more committed in September...and on August 30, a comment from Kelli popped up in my e-mail and I knew I had to get back to blogging to make myself accountable!

After I moved, it took forever to get phone/cable/internet hooked up in my house. Shortly after everything was hooked up, my computer started acting really funny... it wouldn't turn off for the longest time, and finally when I got it to turn off, it wouldn't turn back on! My husband mailed me our laptop so I wouldn't go crazy! That was in June. In July, we met up in Florida to go on a cruise. We spent about 2 weeks together then he headed back to his base and I headed back to "mine".

I love my neighborhood/town. There is a nice system of running/walking paths, but somehow I can only ever find routes that are 3-4 miles long! One day I was out running and I was sure I'd get 8 miles in, since I had absolutely no idea where I was...one turn and suddenly I was right outside my subdivision! I have a friend who is trying to start running too. She lives 2 miles away, so I run over to her house, walk with a few minutes of running with her, and then run home.

I'm happy to be back here! I'll have to spend some time later checking the other blogs (unfortunately, all of my bookmarks are on my broken computer!

Running in Okinawa for nearly 4 years has practically ruined my body's ability to run in the "COLD". Today it was around 60 when I started running and I was *freezing* in long sleeves! I think it felt just about the same as running in Okinawa in January! Definitely colder than running there in December!

I didn't really feel like running, but I told myself I had to run at least a mile. (Knowing that of course I wouldn't stop once I hit a mile!) I figured I'd go 3-3.5 miles. I decided I would try a "new" route...all my new routes here end up being bits and pieces of routes I've run before with a little new stuff thrown in.

I really don't know where I was or how I got back...but somehow I covered 7 miles! I kept recognizing parts, like the "Norfolk Terrier" restaurant and a little school that I'd run past before, but didn't really know how I ended up there. I tried remembering street names, and while I do remember some (Vicar's Lane, Anne Bartholomew Road, Byron Walk, Churchill Road, etc.) I am not sure I'd know how to get there on purpose. I'd really like to replicate this route sometime, because it's hard for me to get runs that total more than 3-4 miles without a ton of backtracking. If I manage to do this run again, I'll be really happy. Shocked, but happy!
